Police Report: Robbery Complaint Might Be Quasi-Domestic Dispute

Man, 81, accuses woman of strong-arming him, but he initially withheld from police their lengthy history of disputes.

At 9:23 p.m. Sunday, an 81-year-old Wauwatosa man who lives in the Village area reported that he had been robbed by a woman on the sidewalk at North 70th and West State streets. He said that the woman had confronted him on the street, grabbed him and reached into his pocket to rob him of about $100 cash.

He first told police that he was only passingly acquainted with the woman from seeing her panhandling occasionally at a Milwaukee tavern, but it later developed that the two had a nearly two-decade-long boyfriend-girlfriend relationship and had been the subjects of numerous domestic disturbance calls in the past.

The suspect is a 51-year-old Wauwatosa woman who lives nearby. A witness reported seeing the woman holding on to the man and acting abusively, but she could not say that she saw him being robbed. She called police at the man’s request.
