Police Report: Update on Crime in Tosa

Police are on the spot in arrests for theft and drug deal.

Thursday

A resident of the 2400 block of North 68th Street reported that between 8 a.m. Wednesday and 8 a.m. Thursday someone stole the rear license plate from her car while it was parked in her driveway.

A resident of the 11700 block of West Locust Street reported that between 9 p.m. May 11 and 6 a.m. May 12 someone smashed a window of his car while it was parked in his driveway. Nothing was missing from the car.

Wednesday

At 12:32 p.m., two Milwaukee women, 59 and 45 years old, were arrested for retail theft at Target, 3900 N. 124th St., after they were seen on surveillance cameras concealing bottles of liquor under coats in a shopping cart. The women were confronted by a store employee as they attempted to leave without paying but they ignored him. Police arrived before they could leave the parking lot, though, and the two were found to have 11 bottles of liquor and a variety of cleaning supplies and other sundries between them, worth about $300.

At 7:49 a.m., an employee of a landscaping company working in Milwaukee County Research Park reported that he had seen an unknown man grab a leaf blower from the company’s trailer and walk off with it. He said he yelled at the man to stop, but he got in a car and drove off. He got the license number and police were seeking the owner of the car.

Tuesday

A Wauwatosa East High School student reported that between noon and 1 p.m. May 9 her purse had been stolen from the school theater. She said that she had lost a cell phone, a music player and other items, all valued at $280.

Monday

At 11:35 p.m., a 29-year-old Wauwatosa man was arrested for possession of marijuana and a 31-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for possession with intent to deliver after a patrol officer spotted them in the act of making a drug buy in an alley in the 11700 block of West North Avenue. The Milwaukee man had 12 small bags of marijuana totaling 20.5 grams as well as several rolled marijuana cigarettes.

At 7:01 p.m., a 38-year-old Greenfield woman was arrested for retail theft at Macy’s at Mayfair Mall after she tried to leave the store without paying for $331.50 worth of clothing. She had been seen on camera entering a fitting room with the clothing and an empty bag, then leaving it without the merchandise but carrying a “fuller” bag, according to store employees.

At 5:36 p.m., an employee of Pick ‘n Save, 6950 W. State St., reported that a woman had left the store without paying for merchandise and had ignored his requests to stop. She drove off with a bag of cat food and two boxes of cat litter, all worth $27.77.

At 10:45 a.m., a 31-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested when she attempted to cash a fraudulent check for $856.26 at M&I Bank, 7501 W North Ave.
