Police Report: Update on Crime in Wauwatosa

Woman's prized Corvette stolen from apartment building garage.

Monday

At 4:01 a.m., an 18-year-old Wauwatosa man was arrested for underage drinking after he and a 19-year-old Wauwatosa man were found asleep on the steps of a business at 9800 Blue Mound Road. The officer noted there was an open can of malt liquor next to them. He woke them and noted the smell of alcohol from the 18-year-old. The teen registered a .07 blood alcohol content on a breath test. The 19-year-old registered a .00 BAC and was taken home.

At 4:05 p.m., a neighbor of a resident of the 6900 block of West Garfield Avenue saw a man grab a boy’s bicycle that had been left in the front yard and ride off with it.

At 3:25 a.m., a 28-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for drunken driving, second offense, after he was stopped for driving 60 mph on North Mayfair Road and was pulled over in the 3000 block. He had a blood alcohol content of .14.

Saturday

A Milwaukee woman’s car was severely vandalized while it was parked in the 2300 block of North 65th Street, with deep scratches on nearly every surface, and nearby, at a residence in the 2500 block of North 67th Street, another car was damaged by an unknown projectile, possibly a bullet.

A resident of the 6600 block of West Center Street reported that someone had entered his car overnight and stolen a prescription for Oxycodone and morphine. An unknown suspect was recorded on video filling the prescription at the pharmacy at 2656 Wauwatosa Ave.

Friday

At 7:35 p.m., an attendant at , 7532 W. Center St., reported that a man had driven off without paying for $119.18 worth of gas.

A resident of the 4000 block of North 96th Street reported that some time between 1 and 1:50 p.m. someone had smashed the right rear window of her car while it was parked in her driveway. The car had not been entered and nothing was taken.

At 9:37 a.m., police were called to investigate a burglary at a vacant house in the 4200 block of North 92nd Street. The house is owned by a Greenfield man who has it listed for sale. When he stopped by to clear some brush, he found the side door had been broken in and his brand-new stainless steel refrigerator and stove, worth $1,450 together, had been stolen. Police determined that the door had been broken in by bodily force.

A resident of the 500 block of North 107th Street reported that overnight someone had entered his work van and taken his company’s laptop computer, worth $1,500, while the van was parked in his driveway. He thought he had locked the van but there was no sign of forced entry.

Thursday

A resident of the 4700 block of North 100th Street reported that someone had stolen her 1999 Chevy Corvette from the underground parking lot of her apartment building. Police found shattered, tinted glass in her parking stall. Video recordings showed a suspicious man wandering around the apartment complex about 8:30 a.m., then entering an unlocked door around 9:15, and the Corvette being driven off at 10. The owner said her silver Corvette was in mint condition, and she pegged the loss at $17,000.

A Waukesha man reported that someone had broken the rear passenger window of his SUV while it was parked in the rear lot at and stolen a music player and a DVD player worth $400.
