Police Reports: Recent Incidents from the Tosa Crime Blotter

Sunday

A resident of the 2000 block of North 81st Street reported that overnight someone entered her open, detached garage and the two unlocked cars inside it and stole a GPS unit and a battery jump-starter machine from them.

A resident of the 8100 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported that overnight someone entered his unlocked car in his driveway and stole a GPS unit and a bag of quarters.

Saturday

At 4:17 p.m., a 27-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for theft at at after he was caught trying to steal clothing worth more than $500 at retail value.

At 3:05 p.m., police were called to , 8930 W. North Ave., after staff there discovered that about an hour earlier two men had stolen three bottles of Dom Perignon champagne, each worth $200, from a display case. Surveillance video showed them sliding the front glass panel off the locked case to get at the goods.

At 2:39 p.m., a New Berlin man reported that someone had smashed a window in his van and stolen his wife’s purse while it was parked in the 1200 block of Underwood Parkway.

At 8:51 a.m., a West Des Moines, Iowa, man called police to the , 2303 N. Mayfair Rd., after he found his vehicle had been broken into overnight. He had removed all property of value from the car and nothing was taken, but about $500 damage was done to the window and door frame.

Friday

At 1:56 p.m., a 19-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested for theft after she was caught trying to steal five shirts worth $124 from sports store in Mayfair Mall. She had been seen placing the shirts in a large foil-lined bag intended to defeat security sensors.

Thursday

At 1:32 p.m., a clerk at at Mayfair Mall reported that three men had just stolen a $275 pair of sunglasses.

At 11:12 a.m., police were called to the Wauwatosa Alternative High School at the Fisher Building, 12121 W. North Ave., on a report of a strong-arm robbery and found an 18-year-old Wauwatosa man, a student at the school, who said he had been attacked from behind, choked and robbed of a gold chain necklace. He knew his assailant, he said, as well as a lookout and a driver who helped him escape. Police were able to reach one of those men by phone, and he told them that the victim was a well-known drug dealer who owed a lot of money to the fellow who attacked him and it was all payback. Police also said the victim's story changed constantly.

At 8:17 a.m., the owner of Best Choice Landscaping, 11820 W. Ripley Ave., reported that overnight someone had stolen a 16-foot trailer, worth $4,800, from his lot.

Wednesday

Between 1:45 and 3 p.m., someone stole a purse from a dental office at Mayfair Mall, two wallets from another office and ransacked an employee locker room in the basement. The purse was found empty in a restroom.

At 2:43 p.m., an 18-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for disorderly conduct after a Milwaukee County bus driver reported that he had threatened her with harm after she refused him a ride. He had tried to board with an outdated transfer.

At 11:44 a.m., a 22-year-old woman and a 16-year-old girl, both from Milwaukee, were arrested for theft at , 3201 N. Mayfair Rd. after they were caught trying to steal about $325 worth of merchandise.

At 11:22 a.m., a resident of the 6300 block of West Wisconsin Avenue reported that someone had stolen a 20-foot copper downspout from his house. He had reported another downspout theft in February.

Tuesday

A resident of an apartment in the 2500 block of North 124th Street reported that sometime in the previous two days someone had broken into his locked storage unit and stolen four tires and the 22-inch chrome rims they were mounted on. He estimated the loss at $2,800.

A resident of the 6200 block of Upper Parkway North reported that some time between 2 and 5 p.m. someone entered his open garage and stole his lawn mower, also rummaging though his wife’s car.

A Milwaukee man reported that between 3:55 and 4:10 p.m. someone smashed a window in his car and stole his employer’s laptop computer and accessories while he was at the store at 1717 N. Mayfair Rd.

A resident of the 6200 block of Washington Boulevard reported that sometime between 4 p.m. Monday and 4 p.m. Friday someone stole her Land Rover SUV from her driveway.

A 29-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for theft and possession of drug paraphernalia after he was identified in another arrest as the suspect seen on video stealing a number of boxed DVD sets from , 3900 N. 124th St., on March 11. He was found with several syringes and other pieces of equipment associated with heroin use.

A resident of the 6200 block of Upper Parkway North reported that between 1:15 and 4 p.m., someone had stolen a flood light bulb from his home. He was worried that the theft of the light might be a precursor to an attempt to burglarize his garage, because the light illuminates it at night.

At 11:28 p.m., a 54-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for theft and possession of drug paraphernalia at at Mayfair Mall after he was caught trying to steal 11 Polo shirts. A plainclothes store security officer had been watching the Polo display for grab and run-style thefts, and watched as the man entered the store, went directly to the Polo display, picked up two stacks of shirts and turned to leave. He fought with the officer, who had to force him into the security office. Police found a used crack pipe on him. Wauwatosa police referred the case for charges but after an assistant district attorney reviewed video of the incident, he declined to pursue a case because the suspect made no effort to conceal the clothing and did not reach the first set of exit doors before the security officer confronted him.

A Delafield woman reported that between 10:15 and 10:38 a.m., someone smashed a window in her car while it was parked in the parking lot, 1800 Swan Blvd., and stole a laptop, large cash deposits from her business and personal items including credit cards, which were later used to make fraudulent purchases.

A tenant at KW Commercial building, 10909 Blue Mound Rd., reported that some time overnight someone had broken into his office by smashing a window and had stolen a laptop computer belonging to a colleague.

Monday

A resident of the 1300 block of Martha Washington Drive reported that overnight a cell phone and a debit card had been stolen from his unlocked car. The phone had already been found by a neighbor and returned to him, and he canceled the card before it was used.

A resident of the 2600 block of North 67th Street reported that between 1 and 2:45 p.m., someone stole a GPS unit from her unlocked car while it was parked in front of her home.

A resident of the 7500 block of West Wells Street reported that someone had stolen a bicycle from his unlocked and open garage sometime within the previous several days.

A 17-year-old Wauwatosa girl was cited for habitual truancy from after missing all or part of 17 days this semester without excuse.
