Police Reports: Roundup of Recent Incidents in Wauwatosa

Third burglary in the 8300 block of Gridley Avenue should have residents on their toes.

Sunday

At 9:16 p.m., a 42-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for drunken driving, first offense, in the 9900 block of West North Avenue after a patrol officer saw him driving erratically and found that he had suspended license plates. The driver admitted he had been drinking since 2:30 p.m. He failed a field sobriety test and registered a .20 blood alcohol content on a breath test.

Police were called at 5:15 p.m. to , 7520 W. Blue Mound Rd., on a report that two men had just stolen four bottles of liquor worth about $100. They tripped a security alarm as they quickly left the store and were already entering a waiting minivan driven by a third person before store security personnel could stop them.

A resident of the 2700 block of North 73rd Street reported that some time between 1:30 p.m. Saturday and 4:15 p.m. Sunday someone had stolen a “Recall Walker” sign from his front yard.

At 7:40 p.m., two Milwaukee girls, 14 and 15 years old, were arrested for theft at at Mayfair Mall after they were caught trying to steal almost $300 worth of clothing and jewelry.

Police were called to McDonald’s, 3800 N. 124th St., on a report that a man had tried to pass a counterfeit $10 bill at the drive-through window. The sale was denied and he left the scene. Police were able to find the man through his license plate number and after interviewing him, were convinced that he did not know the bill was fake.

A resident of the 8300 block of Gridley Avenue reported that at 5:52 p.m. someone had broken into her detached garage, tripping an audible alarm. The woman thought it was her fiancé coming home and waited a couple of minutes, then went out to see what was taking him so long. She found the side door kicked in. Nothing was missing. This was the third burglary reported recently in the same block of Gridley.

At 12:05 a.m., a 20-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested for possession of marijuana and paraphernalia at the , 151 N. Mayfair Rd., when an officer doing a walk-through smelled marijuana and traced it to her room.

At 8:17 p.m., a 17-year-old Milwaukee boy and a 21-year-old Milwaukee man were arrested for theft after they ran out of , 6607 W. North Ave., without paying for three bottles of gin. Police caught up with them in the 6400 block of West Garfield Ave.

At 2:05 p.m., a 42-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for theft at , 6700 W. State St., after he was seen concealing eight cans of body spray worth $42.32 and trying to leave without paying. He tried to run from police but slipped and fell and was captured in the parking lot.

At 12:55 p.m., police were called to the . after the manager reported that a man had just tried to pass a counterfeit $50 bill. She had checked the bill and found it to be a $5 bill that had been bleached and reprinted. She gave police a license number and good quality video of the man, and police are seeking a known suspect.

A Milwaukee woman reported that some time between 8:40 and 11:20 a.m. someone had entered her unlocked car and stolen her stereo while she was at , 10900 W. Potter Rd.
