Police Reports: That 'Gal' Had Your Number, Guy

Late night date turns from romantic disappointment into downright damage when demoiselle makes off with brother-in-law's pickup truck.

Oh, to have loved and lost and – well, really, never actually got the lovin' part, either.

A Milwaukee man who was house-sitting for his sister and her husband at their residence in the 2400 block of North 116th Street reported Friday that a “gal” he had met at a party had stolen his brother-in-law’s pickup truck.

The man, in his 60s, said he had gotten off his second-shift job and gone to a house party, where he met “Tracy,” a woman about half his age. She came home with him for some “adult activities” – which, he said ruefully, never took place.

After a couple of hours of just hanging out, she said she was going to take a shower.

When quite a while had passed and she didn’t come out of the bathroom, he checked and found her gone – along with his brother-in-law’s keys and his 2010 Toyota Tacoma pickup.

The head custodian at Madison Elementary School reported that overnight someone had thrown a large rock through a glass door on the west side of the building. The rock was found a good 20 feet inside the building. The custodian said he would check Monday to see whether video surveillance cameras had captured the incident.

Saturday

A Milwaukee woman reported that between 4 and 11:18 p.m. someone smashed a window in her car and stole her purse while she was at work at Red Lobster, 2801 N. Mayfair Rd. The restaurant manager said Red Lobster does have parking lot cameras and she would check for video evidence and contact police.

At 6:27 p.m., a 25-year-old Waukesha woman was arrested for disorderly conduct at Buffalo Wild Wings, 2635 N. Mayfair Rd., after she found her boyfriend there with another woman and started a fight. She walked up behind him and slapped him across the back of the head, she admitted, and he got up and pushed her while she was holding her young child. It soon turned into a choking, grabbing, cursing match that ended when restaurant patrons separated the two. Her boyfriend, a 29-year-old Milwaukee man, was also arrested on an outstanding Wauwatosa traffic warrant.

A Wauwatosa resident reported a confirmed e-mail scam attempt, one with which police were already familiar. The man received a message purportedly from his longtime tax manager saying she was in Cardiff, Wales, U.K., and had been mugged and needed money. He contacted her and found, as expected, that she had not traveled to the United Kingdom and was safe and secure in Milwaukee. Police advise that this is a common scam and recipients of such messages should not respond.

Friday

A Rhinelander man reported that two cars and various other property had been stolen from a home and garage he owns in the 400 block of North 68th Street. He said he had recently evicted his aunt and her adult children from the house, then asked his brother-in-law to go check on its condition because he hoped to sell it. His brother-in-law had called back to say that when he arrived, he first noticed that a storm door had been ripped off and taken, and inside he found that a wood-burning stove was missing. He called the owner to report that and was asked to check the garage as well. The brother-in-law found that locks on the garage door had been cut and that two cars and a truck refrigeration unit had disappeared. The owner said he suspects his aunt’s children but has no proof and has not been able to contact her.

At 12:41 p.m., two Milwaukee boys, ages 12 and 14, were arrested for theft after employees at Massage Envy, 2751 N. Mayfair Rd., reported that they had entered the business and taken two iPhones that were charging in a back hallway. They gave police a description and officers soon spotted the boys walking into the Radisson Hotel nearby. They were stopped and the phones were found on them, as well as a pair of jeans stolen from Macy’s at Mayfair Mall. They were also reported to have been escorted from a neighboring office building after they came in through a back door and were found going through offices. They were each issued a citation for theft and then taken home to their mothers.
