Police Reports: 'With Friends Like These....'

It's nice to know your friends are looking out for your moral well-being.

At 11:10 p.m. Monday, a 23-year-old West Allis man was arrested for possession of marijuana at Days Inn, 18811 Blue Mound Rd.

He and his girlfriend had gotten a room and invited another couple to party with them. After they had all loosened up a bit, the better half of the guest couple began to berate the West Allis man for the way he treated his girlfriend. He did not take kindly to the criticism.

Soon, his buddy let himself be drawn into the discussion to defend his love interest. Before long, a loud and angry argument had broken out, and the couples separated to nurse their wounded souls.

After thinking about it a bit, the couple that had been invited to hang out decided to heal the rift by calling police to turn their host in for the pot they knew he was holding.

When police asked them why they were doing this, they said they thought using marijuana was a bad, bad thing and their friend should learn the error of his ways.

He was, in fact, holding, and was ticketed and released.

Thursday

A resident of the 4100 block of North 97th Street reported that overnight someone had broken into his truck by smashing a window and stolen a cordless drill and a set of keys. While investigating that call, a Wauwatosa police officer noticed that another car in the alley, belonging to a 96th Street resident, also had a window broken out. The owner would find herself missing a GPS unit.

Wednesday

At 3:38 p.m., police were called to Kmart, 3201 N. Mayfair Rd., to search for a man who had grabbed a 32-inch television set and run out the back door with it, with employees chasing him. The suspect was not found.

At 1:45 p.m., police were called to Sephora in Mayfair Mall on a report that a woman had stolen a $95 bottle of perfume, refused to be detained and left the mall in a hurry. The woman could not be located.

Tuesday

At 4:38 p.m., a 16-year-old Wauwatosa boy was arrested for theft at Kmart after he was seen hiding clothing and snacks worth $72.49 in his backpack and then trying to leave without paying.

At 12:11 a.m., police were called to a residence in the 7020 block of Milwaukee Avenue on a report that some time between 9 and 11 p.m. someone had entered the unlocked home and stolen his wife’s wedding ring from her dresser top. She was away, and her husband had been asleep in another room. When he woke up, he said, he found a video game system and some DVDs in disorder, then checked the whole house and saw that the ring was missing.

Monday

A resident of the 2600 block of North 65th Street reported that overnight someone entered his unlocked car and stole his stereo while it was parked on the street in front of his house.

Sunday

At 11:44 p.m., an 18-year-old Wauwatosa man was arrested for possession of marijuana after the car he was riding in along with three other young Wauwatosa men, all 18, was stopped for having no license plates. The officer immediately smelled marijuana and identified one of the passengers as a frequent customer of the Wauwatosa Police Department’s services. He searched the car and found a backpack in the trunk with identification of that subject and a jar of weed inside. The other three teens were searched and none was found to have any contraband.

At 12:59 p.m., two 13-year-old Milwaukee boys were arrested for disorderly conduct after a resident of the 11000 block of West Derby Street reported they had climbed over his back fence and then, after he released his dog to scare them away, had thrown rocks at the dog. Police found the boys behind some bushes in the alley.
