At 12:32 a.m. Thursday, a man and a woman, both 23 and from Milwaukee, were arrested for robbery after they tried to hold up the residents of a home in the 4600 block of North 100th Street.

Police were called while the pair were still at the scene, and the first officer arrived within a minute. He found three people outside the home and ordered them all to the ground and held his gun on them while waiting for assistance.

A woman who lives in the residence with her sister and her boyfriend said that the two suspects were known to them and had been at the home earlier in the day, when the male suspect had learned that she had a prescription for Suboxone, a narcotic used to treat heroin addiction – hers.

The woman said that shortly after midnight, she heard noises at the door as if someone were trying to get in. The door, which did not have a working lock, burst open, and she saw that the two had returned, the woman carrying a wooden rod and the man carrying a metal crutch.

They barged in and began to demand money that they said her boyfriend owed them or, in lieu of cash, all her Suboxone. Her boyfriend stayed hidden upstairs while the pair roved through the house looking for money and drugs.

The found the Suboxone and then broke a downstairs window, still demanding cash. The male suspect then threatened to kidnap the female resident and "take her to the hood" to prostitute her until he got his money back.

That brought the boyfriend out of his room, and the woman’s sister out of hers.

The boyfriend tried to negotiate with the male suspect and said that if he would lend him his cell phone, he would call his mother and try to get the cash right away.

Instead, he called police. The boyfriend admitted he had known the male suspect for five years as a drug dealer.
