He Resembled That: Tosa Teen Busted for Pot in Search for Robber

A case of mistaken identity landed a young Wauwatosa man in some serious trouble with the law.
The 18-year-old is facing charges after he was caught holding a large jar of marijuana and a lot of cash while were looking for an armed robbery suspect.
John Thomas Hoffer was charged in Milwaukee County Circuit Court with one count of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. If convicted, he faces up to 3Β½ years in prison and $10,000 in fines.

According to the criminal complaint:
On April 17, police were looking for a suspect in an armed robbery in the 600 block of North 60th Street.

Officers came across Hoffer, who they thought matched the description of the robber. They searched him, looking for evidence of the robbery, and instead found a jar containing 46 grams of marijuana and $1,920 in cash.
Hoffer told police he sells marijuana to his friends.
He will make his initial appearance in court May 23.Β
