Tosa Man Charged in PNC Bank Robbery

Suspect told police he needed to rob the bank in order to pay his rent.

A 21-year-old Wauwatosa man is facing charges after he allegedly robbed a bank and was caught shortly afterwards.

Matthew Joseph McInnis was charged in Milwaukee County Circuit Court Monday with one count of robbery for , 6810 W. State St. If convicted, he faces up to 15 years in prison and $50,000 in fines.

According to the criminal complaint:

On Oct. 5, McInnis went into the bank and handed a typed note to an teller asking for a specific amount of cash. The teller handed him the money and McInnis quickly left the bank.

He was arrested a short distance away while waiting for a taxi to pick him up.

McInnis told police he robbed the bank because he couldn’t pay his rent and the only option he had was to steal it from the bank.

McInnis is currently being held in Milwaukee County Jail on $1,500 cash bail.
