Tosa Police Chief Withdraws from Greendale Job Hunt

Weber won't be leaving Wauwatosa, saying 'There's still more for me to do here.'

Wauwatosa Police Chief Barry Weber will not be leaving the force. He told Wauwatosa Patch today that he had withdrawn his candidacy from the search for the chief's job in Greendale because "I decided there's still more for me to do here."

Wauwatosa Patch and Greendale Patch had reported that Weber was for the opening of police chief in Greendale, and at the time Weber declined to comment on his reasons for seeking the job until the process was complete.

Today, though, he said that "Greendale had a lot to offer, I had a good interview, I was a finalist, but after thinking about it a lot I realized I wasn't done here."

Greendale has only about 0ne-third the population of Wauwatosa and registers far less crime. But that might have been a late-career incentive for Weber, whose wife is an award-winning teacher in the Greendale schools.

Weber just passed his 21st anniversary as the Wauwatosa police chief, and it looks like he will stick around awhile longer.
