Tosa Police Try to Find a Pellet, or Even a BB, of Truth in This Story

A young Milwaukee man who claimed aspirations to enter the field of law enforcement did his best Sunday to raise his own bar for success.

After he and two friends were arrested for possession of facsimile weapons – gas-powered BB/pellet guns – he laughed off the outcome.

According to the police report:

At midnight Sunday, three young Milwaukeeans, 17, 18 and 20 years old, were arrested after police tracked them down on a call from a resident of the 2300 block of North 84th Street.

The caller told dispatchers at 10:45 p.m. Saturday that he had seen an unfamiliar car park along the street and that three men dressed in dark clothing had gotten out and walked north.

An officer found the car still there, and peering through the heavily tinted windows with a spotlight, he saw a container of several thousand BBs on the driver’s seat and several CO2 cylinders on the passenger seat. He noted that there were also hundreds more BBs scattered on the floor.

The 20-year-old man soon arrived back at his car and was detained, while the officer called for more squads to locate the other two subjects.

He then searched the car and found a CO2-powered BB/pellet handgun under the driver’s seat, and also a tin of .17-cal. pellets.

The young told officers about a half-dozen different versions of his story, beginning with an overheating engine. He said he had pulled over because he could go no further and that he and his friends were just walking to a gas station.

But when the gas station manager said he hadn't seen the subjects that night, he reeled off several different versions of what he and his friends had been doing.

After officers found the other two subjects in front of supermarket, 8616 W. North Ave., each with their own a pellet guns – plus seven extra CO2 cartridges, a laser sight and a tin of hollow-point hunting pellets – the 20-year-old said that he had warned them they were in a "nice neighborhood" and they shouldn't have taken their guns with them.

He then admitted that his friends wanted to "shoot out some windows."

Milwaukee police also responded to the call because of multiple complaints of car windows being shot out.

In his booking, the 20-year-old mentioned that he was a criminal justice major at Milwaukee Area Technical College and he hoped the incident wouldn’t “mess that up.”

The arresting officer noted that when he handed the man a $177 municipal ticket and told him he could leave, he crumpled the citation, shoved it in his pocket and began to laugh.
