Tosa Teen Admits Stealing $500 From Sister After Helping Her Move

Already on probation, 17-year-old could face up to six years for taking sibling's credit card and using it to draw money from her bank account.

A Wauwatosa teenager is facing charges after he allegedly stole $500 from his sister’s bank account after he helped her move.

Robert E. Edwards, 17, was charged last Tuesday in Milwaukee County Circuit Court with one count of unauthorized use of personal identification. If convicted, he faces up to six years in prison and $10,000 in fines.

On June 1, the victim contacted after she noticed $500 was missing from her checking account. She said she suspected her brother had stolen her debit card several days before while helping her move.

She had contacted Edward’s probation officer, who confronted him about the theft, which he admitted to.

Edwards told his sister, “You will get some of your money back, but not all of it. I will give you the rest when I get it.”

Police officers followed up on the complaint on June 6, and Edwards told them he had given his sister $500 and that the issue was settled.

But that isn't quite the way the law works – especially with someone who's already on probation. Edwards was placed under arrest, and the District Attorney's office saw fit to file charges.

He’s currently free on a $250 signature bond while awaiting trial.
