Two Arrested in Aldi's Case Confess to Tosa Radio Shack Robbery

The arrest and charging of two men in a high-profile armed robbery attempt in Milwaukee has also solved , police said.

The two suspects were arrested at St. Joseph's Hospital after one of them was shot by a customer last Monday while trying to rob the Aldi's store at 5235 N. 76th St. in Milwaukee.

According to updated Wauwatosa police reports:

Dierre D. Cotton, 20, and Edyon M. Hibbler, 19, both of Milwaukee, have also been charged in the Jan. 19 shotgun robbery of the Radio Shack store at 6407 W. North Ave. in Wauwatosa after Hibbler confessed to Milwaukee police he was the getaway driver in both incidents. Both could face up to 40 years in prison.

Wauwatosa police asked to interview the suspects on Tuesday, the day after their arrest in the Aldi's crime. Cotton was then still being interviewed by Milwaukee detectives, but Hibbler was questioned and denied any involvement in the Wauwatosa crime.

On Wednesday, however, Milwaukee police contacted Wauwatosa officers to say Hibbler had confessed to the Radio Shack robbery, and on Thursday, they called again to say that Cotton had also confessed to it.

Cotton also confessed to another armed robbery of a CVS Pharmacy in Milwaukee, according to the new report.

The Aldi's case made headlines and topped broadcast news reports when Nazir Al-Mujaahid, 35, armed with a permitted concealed handgun, pulled his weapon and shot Cotton as he was attempting to rob the store with a short-barreled shotgun.

Radio Shack, KFC robberies likely unrelated

The robbery at Radio Shack terrorized two young women who were the only employees in the store at the time. Cotton is alleged to have entered the store wearing a mask and wielding a sawed-off shotgun and made one of the clerks hold a bag while the other emptied the cash drawer into it.

Cotton then ran from the store, according to police reports, and jumped into a waiting vehicle, now alleged to have been driven by Hibbler.

Police have asked the media not to reveal the amounts of cash taken in robberies.

Wauwatosa police said Monday that at this point, does not appear to be related to the Radio Shack holdup.

In that incident, a store manager at the KFC at 6706 W. North Ave. was waiting in her car in the drive-through lane for another employee to hand a bank deposit bag out the window when two men approached, one pointing a short-barreled shotgun at her.

That robbery was foiled when the manager suddenly drove off while the employee inside the store pulled the bank bag back from the window. The second robber hurled a brick through the manager's car window, slightly injuring her, as she made her escape.
