UPDATE: Tosa on the Lighter Side of 6 Inches of Snow in Area

Worst of weather was the wind, with gusts as high as 32 mph and drifting snow.

The National Weather Service said Friday morning that 6.1 inches of snow was officially recorded in the Milwaukee area, but most areas of Wauwatosa got a bit less. There were no school closings or reported power outages in the area.

The worst of Southeast Wisconsin's first winter storm was high winds reaching 20 mph with gusts as high as 32 mph that produced drifting and low visibilty on roads Thursday evening.

Temperatures fell abruptly to 19 by Friday morning from a Wednesday high of 55.

Snowfall started as light flurries around 10 a.m. Thursday with heavier amounts falling in the afternoon and evening and tapering off overnight. The near round-the-clock event produced slick and in some cases snow-packed roads in some areas as salt crews tried to keep up with the constant snowfall.
