Wired: Driver Who Nearly Hit Tosa Officer Was Drugged, DA Says
A guy wire supporting a power pole was the only thing between a Tosa patrol officer and a careening pickup truck driven by an opiate-addled woman, criminal complaint says. The wire stopped her and saved him.
A 35-year-old Milwaukee woman is accused of driving after taking drugs, then nearly running over a Wauwatosa police officer, who was saved by a guy wire for a utility pole.
Jessica Dawn Domenget was charged Friday in Milwaukee County Circuit Court with one count of second offense operating while intoxicated and one count of second-degree reckless endangerment. If convicted, she faces up to 5½ years in prison and $26,100 in fines.

On Aug. 22, a Wauwatosa police officer parked his car on the northbound side of the 800 block of North 70th Street, then got out so he could get something that had fallen on the passenger side floorboard of the car.
The officer was opening the passenger side door when he spotted Domenget driving southbound at 30 to 35 miles per hour in a blue pickup truck.

He then saw the truck cross the northbound lane of traffic and come right at him. The truck jumped the curb, then collided with a guy wire for a nearby utility pole, which lifted the front end of the truck off the ground and kept it from hitting him.
Domenget was alone in the truck and hysterical, continuously flooring the accelerator of the truck but unable to move. The officer told her to stay in the truck until other personnel arrived, but she kept trying to make a phone call and refused to listen to the officer’s orders, so he took the phone away.
As other officers arrived, Domenget was removed from the truck and was asked if she had taken drugs. She said she took Clonazepam and had just picked up a prescription for Suboxone from a north side clinic. She then told officers she had not only taken Clonazepam, but the Suboxone and she drank a “crackhead beer” at lunch (Patch would welcome knowing what that may be – one online source gives a recipe for a Crack Head cocktail, a combination of beer, rye whiskey and Jagermeister schnapps).
Domenget said she had also snorted heroin the day before and hadn’t slept in days, which she said was normal for her. She was taken to Froedtert Hospital for a blood test, which later revealed the presence of drugs.
Domenget was previously convicted of OWI in 2005. She’s being held in Milwaukee County Jail on a $2,500 signature bond and is ordered turned over to the JUSTICE 2000 program for supervision while awaiting trial.
