Two Women Charged with Drunk Driving for Third Time

One defendant nearly hit a squad car with its lights flashing, the other called police while intoxicated in a dispute over fast food.

Two women arrested in Wauwatosa on suspicion of driving while drunk, both for the third time, have been charged and will face up to a year in jail if convicted.

Officer could have become a victim

A 23-year-old Trevor woman was arrested in November after she nearly ran into a Wauwatosa police squad car with its emergency lights on while an officer was assisting a disabled vehicle.

Tiffany N. Garcia was charged Wednesday in Milwaukee County Circuit Court with one count of third-offense operating while intoxicated and one count of operating a motor vehicle with a prohibited alcohol concentration. If convicted, she could face up to one year in Milwaukee County Jail and $2,000 in fines.

The officer went after Garcia, catching up to her in the 2000 block of North Mayfair Road, where she was driving slowly in the left lane with a flat tire.

Garcia failed a field sobriety test and had a blood alcohol level of 0.171 at the time of the incident, which is more than twice the legal limit to drive in Wisconsin.

She was previously convicted of OWI in 2008 and 2009. Garcia will make her initial appearance in court Friday.

But restaurant staff had also called to say the woman was disrupting business by blocking the drive-through and refusing to leave.
