Election Day: County, Supreme Court Races Dominate Tosa Ballot

There are no contested races in Wauwatosa, but a large turnout is expected.

Tuesday is Election Day for municipal, county and some state public offices, and Wauwatosa will be electing four School Board members and one alderman, all of whom are running unopposed.

Usually, that spells limited interest in voting in spring elections, but with high-profile races for Milwaukee County executive and a hotly contested seat on the Supreme Court, voter interest is high and a strong turnout is expected.

City Clerk Carla Ledesma that early and absentee voting, a good barometer for Election Day voting, was running very high for an April election, just as it had in the February primary when 26 percent of eligible Tosans voted.

The two major contests pit Rep. Jeff Stone (R-Greenfield) against philanthropist and political newcomer Chris Abele for the county executive position, and incumbent Justice David Prosser against Assistant Attorney General JoAnne Kloppenburg for a seat on the Wisconsin Supreme Court.

In Tosa's uncontested elections, Mary Jo Randall, Thomas Jarosz, Sharon Muehlfeld and Lois Weber are on the School Board ballot, and Jeffrey Roznowski is unopposed for his Common Council seat and will appear only on the District 6 ballot.
