Work has begun to replace water mains on both sides of Harwood Avenue from Dewey Avenue to Glenview Avenue in Wauwatosa, according to the city's website. Harmonee Bridge will be closed to one lane of traffic on each side.
The water main construction is expected to take five to six weeks as crews replace water main pipes, some of which were laid in 1897.
The lane closure may cause major backups during key drive times on the bridge, the city's website states.
