Snow Day: Emergency Measures to Lift at Noon

Constant fall of wet, heavy snows kept crews out all night and through the morning, but streets are nearing 100 percent clear, city says.

The snow emergency declared Tuesday evening continues until noon Wednesday, by which time Wauwatosa's Public Works crews expect to have most streets cleared curb to curb.

In the meantime, street parking is still verboten, and cars may be ticketed if they are not moved to make way for the plows.

Wauwatosa still had 20 trucks out Wednesday doing final clearing, said Public Works Superintendent Mike Kreiter.

"The guys worked pertty hard last night," Kreiter said, "with snow coming down constantly. With 1 to 2 inches still to come, the streets may not be 100 percent clear, but everybody should be able to get around."

The street crews earned some social media love for their efforts.
