Wauwatosa Seeks to Re-Establish Quiet Zone

City completed work on two crossings in order to re-submit application that would silence train horns.

Could the trains be quiet again in Wauwatosa?

The City of Wauwatosa lost its quiet-zone status by the Federal Railroad Administration earlier this summer. The city has been working to update the crossings at 63rd Street and 115th Street in order to re-instate its application, according to the city's website.

"This week, the city’s contractor completed the required modifications, and the city submitted a final application documenting the most recent improvements to the FRA," the website states. "With all of the application materials submitted, the FRA now must determine whether the City’s crossings satisfy federal criteria to re-establish a quiet zone."
