Wauwatosa Will Soon Be Train-Horn Free

Wauwatosa's request to re-establish a quiet zone has been approved by the Federal Railroad Administration, according to the city's website.

"Within 21 days from the date of notice, railroads using the quiet zone corridor must cease routine sounding of train horns at crossings," the city's website states.

The City ofΒ Wauwatosa lost its quiet-zone statusΒ by the Federal Railroad Administration earlier this summer. The city has been working to update the crossings at 63rd Street and 115th Street in order to re-instate its application, according to the city's website.

The city has to prove that it meets federal requirements in order to have its quiet zone re-established.
