Financial planning series kicks-off free community education programs

Wauwatosa Avenue United Methodist Church,1529 Wauwatosa Ave., is launching a new series of 21 free community programs called the Fellowship Hall Showcase beginning Sept. 22 at 7 p.m. with a one-hour financial planning presentation for those “Just Starting Out” by Jodie Lane of Uvest Financial Services. 

On Sept. 29, Keith Black of Heritage Investment Services will address the “Mid-Career Years”. Lane returns Oct. 6 to speak about “Retirement Planning”. Both of these programs also begin at 7 p.m.

There is no pre-registration required for any of these programs. Parking is available behind the church off of Underwood Avenue.

Other WAUMC Fellowship Hall Showcase topics to be addressed in the coming months include “greening” your home, preparing emotionally for the holidays, parenting, caring for aging parents and health and wellness.

“Our church wants to be a place in the community where neighbors can mix and mingle and learn,” explains WAUMC Pastor Sue Burwell.

Specific topics and guest speakers in the Fellowship Hall Showcase will be announced closer to the presentation dates. Details are also available on www.waumc.org or by calling the church at 414-453-0700.

Wauwatosa Avenue United Methodist Church dates back to 1848 and began with 42-members. Today, the congregation is 500 strong and firmly committed to inclusiveness, celebrating a diversity of people, ideas and cultures.

WAUMC offers two Sunday services, Christian education classes for individuals ages 3 through adult, a variety of adult and youth music programs and Girl Scout and Boy Scout troops. The congregation is involved with more than a dozen local, national and international mission outreach efforts.
