Nominations Sought for Herb Kohl Educational Foundation Fellowships

The Herb Kohl Foundation is now accepting nominations for 2014 Herb Kohl Teacher Fellowship Awards, according to a news release on the Wauwatosa School District's website.

The purpose of the Herb Kohl Teacher Fellowship program is to recognize and support teaching excellence and innovation. The Herb Kohl Education Foundation’s goal is to support teachers in pursuit of their unrealized goals for their classrooms or professional development.

To be eligible to compete for a fellowship, teachers must be nominated by parents, teachers, students, community members or administrators. Nomination forms are available online at the Herb Kohl Educational Foundation web site, www.kohleducation.org.

Nomination forms must be submitted to the state Department of Public Instruction on or before Friday, Sept. 27, 2013. The Herb Kohl Educational Foundation will award $1,000 grants to 100 teachers and additional $1,000 grants to their schools. Teachers will be recognized at a spring banquet. Fellowship recipients are selected by a state-wide committee composed of civic leaders and representatives of education-related associations and the program’s co-sponsors: The Wisconsin Newspaper Association Foundation, Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, Wisconsin Council of Religious and Independent Schools and the regional Cooperative Educational Service Agencies (CESAs).
