Team Approach Has Red Raiders Off to 5-0 Start

Tosa East takes care of Menomonee Falls to remain perfect on young season.

A comfortable 85-63 victory over Menomonee Falls and star JP Tokoto on Tuesday made the Red Raiders 5-0 overall and 3-0 in the tough Greater Metro Conference. JSOnline.com reported that while Tokoto put on his usual show with 31 points, a team effort was what drove the Red Raiders. Coach Tim Andorfer told JSOnline.com:

"We've got any number of guys (who can contribute. The difference between this year and last year is that when we had a few guys in foul trouble (last year) we weren't sure what we were going to get. This year it's completely different.”

Senior forward Darrell Bowie did not return to the team this year, instead enrolling at LaJolla (CA) Prep School. The 6-foot-8 forward has committed to NCAA Division I Northern Illinois University, so there’s no denying his talent, but even without him Tosa East has climbed to No. 6 in the most recent Division 2 state coaches poll as published on WisSports.net.

Anthony Carroll leads the team in scoring, according to WisSports.net, with an 18.2 average. He scored 24 in Tuesday’s victory over the Indians.

in addition to Menomonee Falls, but its toughest tests lay ahead. A non-conference game Dec. 27 against the No. 1-ranked team in Division 1, Germantown, is chief among them. That game is in the Wisconsin Basketball Yearbook shootout at Concordia University.

Other notable games for Tosa East include:

  • Jan. 7, vs. Tosa West: An intracity rivalry that’s always charged.
  • Jan. 13, vs. Brookfield Central: Both teams are 3-0 atop the conference.
  • Jan. 28, vs. Waunakee: Madison-area school ranked No. 5 in Division 2 by coaches.
  • Feb. 23, vs. Marquette: Last game of the regular season.
