Wauwatosa West Athletic Director Resigns as Sports Turnover Continues

Both varsity basketball coaches had been dismissed from program in April.

Wauwatosa West High School Athletic Director Nathan DeLany has resigned effective July 31, following the dismissal earlier this year of both the West boys and girls basketball coaches.

The School Board is expected to approve his resignation at its meeting tonight.

DeLany was named athletic director just less than a year ago and took over several successful programs, none more so than boys varsity basketball.

Landisch had also overcome a battle with cancer during the year, and in part of the season he was replaced by Chad Stelse, his former assistant.

Three weeks later in April, veteran girls basketball coach Mike Pietrowiak was also told his contract would not be renewed. Pietrowiak had been girls coach at West for 19 years.

The Wauwatosa School District has been quiet about the shakeup of the athletic program at West this year. DeLany could not be reached for comment Monday.
