The Green Bay Packers schedule has been released for the 2014 season, with its opening game being held against the reigning Super Bowl champions Seattle Seahawks.

The match-up will be held Thursday, Sept. 4, at 7:30 p.m. in Seattle.

The team won’t see its first divisional challenger until the third week of football when it takes on the Detroit Lions. The next two games are against the Chicago Bears and the Minnesota Vikings.

Get the full schedule on the Green Bay Packers website.

  • How do you think Aaron Rodgers and the rest of the team will do?

If the head office did not care about the gold package, the Thursday games would be randomly distributed on a pro rata basis. (Along with Monday and Sunday games) Does not appear that it the case.

I've "heard" (and maybe it's just grumbling from other Gold Package holders) that, if they had their way, the Packers would get rid of the Gold Package altogether. It would probably be easier and less expensive for them to administer if they just rolled those games into the regular season ticket package. I'd say out out of the last 10 years or so (and I've held my tickets for about 25 years now), at least half of those years we've had at least one weekday regular season game. In terms of the Shrine Game, I can't even give those things away most years. Hell, I've bought playoff tickets and eaten them or sold at a deep discount some years, particularly of late because nobody wanted to go. There was some discussion of making playoff ticket purchase mandatory. If they switch to that, I'm done.

The shrine game has always been a good one for taking the kids to though.

I will gladly take, pay for, these Thursday tickets off your hands.

I'll keep that in mind, seriously. I know my wife and I won't be going and my brother, who gets first dibs when I don't, lives in Chicago and is unlikely to take them. I'll let you know what happens.
