Week Ahead in Tosa: Irish Fest Preview, Farmer's Market and Football

A look at some of what you need to know in the city of Wauwatosa this week.

We're in that unmistakable — and all too short — interlude between pure summer and crisp autumn.

There's a beautiful forecast on tap for much of the week, but the oppressive heat is gone for the moment. The Common Council is on summer recess and will not convene its regular meeting on Tuesday. And yet, by the end of the week, there's football. Here's a quick look at your week ahead.

Any parent who has stomped around the house turning off lights and closing doors in the wake of their children might enjoy Tuesday's program at the . They can learn how to and scout out ways to stop excessive use. The event begins at 1:30 p.m.

Wauwatosa has a marvelous farmer's market on Saturday mornings, but if you can't get there, Wednesdays provide an alternative. The is from 4-7 p.m. each week on the west side of the park.

Irish Fest is this weekend down at Maier Festival Park, but the Tosa Tonight concert series offers a preview beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Rotary Park Pavilion. Seamus Kennedy, followed by Goitse (pronounced gwi-cha) and Kintra, provide a taste of what you might hear at the festival. There is no admission charge for this event.

On Thursday, leave some room in your tummy for the year's second , presented by the Wauwatosa Chamber of Commerce. Street food vendors and food carts set up in the parking lot and serve not only office workers, but anyone from the public who would like to stop by and grab a different kind of lunch. It begins at 11 a.m.

Saturday evening, is the location of the . The Red Raiders and Trojans face off at 7 p.m., but beginning at 4 p.m. there's a community tailgate with games like obstacle course and tug-of-war on top. Plus, your friends at Wauwatosa Patch will run a "Bags" game with proceeds benefiting both schools.
