Keep Your Cool: High Heat Will Continue Through Wednesday

Keep a watch on those most vulnerable to heat-related emergencies, and make sure you find ways to keep yourself comfortable and hydrated.

With humid 90s sticking around until Wednesday evening, Wauwatosa Patch is reminding readers of the risks of overheating and offering some of the hours and options for places to cool down.

If you don't have adequate air conditioning or air circulation, you should find places to cool off, stay hydrated and and watch out for the most vulnerable: children, elderly and pets, officials say.

People with heart, circulatory or respiratory ailments are also at risk during high heat, and so are people on certain medications and combinations of medications. Check with your physician if you're not sure you're safe in the heat.

Successive days and nights of heat can have a cumulative deleterious effect on those vulnerable to it. The overnight low Tuesday night through Wednesday morning will dip only to the mid-70s.

Heat stroke can strike anyone who is over-active in the heat. If you have concerns about dealing with heat or need information or referrals on how to handle it, you can dial 211. If you or someone else actually appears to be suffering a heat emergency, dial 911 immediately.
