Wauwatosa Celebrates Independence Day

Wauwatosa once again celebrates the Fourth of July with a full day of activities from morning until after dark.

The city's Independence Day parade begins at 9 am. and runs along West North Avenue from North 104th Street east to North 80st Street.

Wauwatosa's Distinguished Citizen of 2011, Denise Lindberg, will lead the parade as Grand Marshal.

The street will be closed to regular traffic at 7:30 a.m. Spectators may place chairs along the parade route beginning at 6 a.m. on the day of the parade.

A responsible person should remain with the chairs until the start of the parade. Items placed before 6 a.m. may be confiscated.

The afternoon program begins at 1 p.m. at and runs until 4 p.m. Among the activities will be pony rides, camel rides and a petting zoo.

After that, Music on the Move will continue to offer amusement rides and games (with the purchase of a $10 bracelet) until 9 pm.

Finally, the city fireworks display begins at 9:15 p.m. in the park.

The long-range weather forecast is for more very warm, dry conditions, currently predicted to be 86 degrees and mostly sunny.
