It's Still Early September....

Wondering where the Monarchs are? Roost sites are now being posted in Minnesota and Iowa, but none in Wisconsin yet.

In past years, the monarch butterflies on the County Grounds have started migrating as early as Labor Day weekend but have also started roosting much later. Records going back 12 years indicate a variation of dates.

What we know is that all of the peak times fall within the month of September. Again, an average peak has been between Sept. 8 and 26. Follow the Twitter feed on the bottom of the Monarch Trail home page for updates, or go out for a walk and jot down your findings in the log to help record this year's migration!
