Bringing Jobs Home

The Manufacturing Extension Partnership has successfully assisted and helped grow many small- and medium-sized manufacturing businesses.

This week, the Senate is debating legislation to make it easier for companies who outsource jobs to move them back to the United States. In my office, we are acutely aware of manufacturing’s impact on Wisconsin’s economy and are focused on the importance of creating and retaining American jobs. It is absolutely essential that we support our manufacturers and give them the opportunity to grow and prosper in America.

During my time in the Senate, I have strongly supported and worked with a program called the Manufacturing Extension Partnership. I’ve seen first-hand how they successfully assist and grow many small and medium manufacturing businesses. I discussed this tremendous public private partnership in greater detail when I addressed the Senate today during consideration of S. 3364, the Bring Jobs Home Act:

We all know the importance of jobs to individual families, communities, and to our economy as a whole. I will continue to do everything I can to keep American jobs here in America.

See Obama not Romney for these comments, they came straight from his mouth. So either he idiotically means what he said, or he is a really bad communicator because he is getting hammered by anyone that listed to it. Business did build more of the roads. They pay a much higher tax burden than a 9-5 person. If goods are moved or vehicles used for xyz transportation more fuel is purchased yielding higher road use taxes. Registration of vehicles is higher. Business pay much higher property taxes putting more money in the school system. Teachers are paid to teach, not help you start a business and the money is there regardless thanks to business staying in business. I haven't seen my art teacher show up lately and help me with making a $60,000 risk on a piece of capitol equipment. ►If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you’ve got a job, you didn’t build that. ( emphasis added.) Somebody else made that happen.”◄ Changed business to job. Bren do you have a job? You didn't build that and make that happen. You owe the government more money for making your job possible. Please write your check payable to the IRS today.

Steve, you not only changed the wording of the quote, you added punctuation that isn't there. The "that" that Obama says a business owner didn't build are the roads and bridges he mentioned in the first half of the same sentence. Yesterday, Romney made the exact same statement, while carrying on this out-of-context BS. Truth is, if you have a successful business in the US, you owe your success in part to the strength of the US infrastructure. You would NOT be successful in places that lack strong infrastructure. As for businesses having a higher tax burden, that's complete nonsense. Corporate lobbyists have put so many loopholes in to the tax code that many highly profitable businesses pay no tax at all. Finally, mr. hoffa, read just slightly more of the President's clip than the out-of-context garbage that Fox is feeding you and you'd see that he's very much lauding private businesses. Fox might tell you that you're informed, but brainwashed is the correct term.

Bert, the quote was copied from a news source, I checked it with the video and it is accurate, word for word. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKjPI6no5ng Do you have a job? If so you owe more to business for supplying money to the government so they could build the roads and bridges you use. Your view on taxes and business is just about as stupid as Obama's. You both have no clue what you are talking about but consider yourself elitist educated snobs. Please come pay my tax bill every year, a zero $ check is easy to write. When I fill up my truck I pay $0.70/gallon less than you. My property taxes on business assets and inventory are zero. When I have goods shipped in the fuel surcharge is waved and my out bound UPS/USPS packages have zero road and use taxes considered in the rates. I owe nothing to the state for a LLC annual report, my business license fees are waived. When I collect sales tax from a customer I get to keep a portion of it. When I do work on my building I don't need permit or inspection fees and multiple environmental controls. When I invent a new product the money just appears in my account to cover the risk. Then more appears to cover the initial run of production. My inventory property taxes are waived again because I took free risk in developing and stocking new products.

So Jimmy, you're down with the idea of us tax payers paying for company deductions on the expenses of sending jobs overseas? Is there some something we are missing as to how we should enjoy this screwing?
Keith Schmitz July 20, 2012 at 12:32 PM
Jimmy, it all works out to be a nice little circle. Jobs are exported overseas so that those in the C-Suites can make mega millions, while the beached workers have to usually move on to lower paying jobs and the threat of moving jobs overseas is used to cower unions. Said workers are making less money, so they have to go to the big box store to buy low priced merchandise, either made by their replacement workers overseas or because workers over here are hammed into submission. Round and round it goes while America is no long, guess what, an exceptional country. Why do you hate America(ns)? Everybody talks about how companies have no choice, while in the meantime and minuscule few get filthy rich and this country builds its own version of an aristocracy because us Princess Ann Romney, consort of the the Dauphin of the Mexican outback calls us, "you people."
