9/11 Gave Nation a Chance to Show Its Resilence, Strength

Ten years later, we have not forgotten that singular day or its indelible mark.

The tragic events of September 11th forever changed our country. As a nation, we watched in horror, came together to mourn and comfort, and witnessed unparalleled acts of heroism in the minutes, hours and days that followed the attacks. Throughout the past decade, members of our great military have fought and continue today to fight terrorism abroad and in turn, protect our most cherished ideals here at home.

These are magnificent reminders of what makes our nation so resilient and strong. We are a nation of people who instinctively come together, united as one America, with a resolve that, in even the most difficult of times, ensures our freedom. Today we mark a solemn milestone in our country's history that without a doubt has left the United States a very different place than we knew on September 10th, 2001. When terrorists tried to bring our great nation to its knees, they miscalculated our spirit, determination and perseverance. Let us always be mindful of the great will of the American people.

Ten years later, we have not forgotten that singular day or its indelible mark. We pay tribute to the service and sacrifice of the heroic firefighters, police forces, emergency personnel, and innocent citizens who lost their lives. May we join in one voice and one heart to keep their memories alive and in doing so, continue to work together toward a brighter future.
