Get Down and Get Charitable in Wauwatosa This Weekend

If you're more adventurous, choose from Irish Fest or an unofficial, sort-of Polish Fest, with bowling.

You don’t have to go to Irish Fest — though you may feel like you do — but there is plenty else going on right here in Wauwatosa over the weekend.

East Town Get Down: A bike ride, neighborhood dog walk, raffle, music and food are part of the East Town Get Down at Juniper 61, 6030 W. North Ave., on Saturday. Music lineup features The Blue Fish, The Tyler Preston Trio, Kane Place Record Club and Semi-Twan. The event runs from noon to 8 p.m.

Rummage With a Cause: Friday morning’s Rummage With a Cause is an Eagle Scout project to benefit the Early Childhood Program in the Wauwatosa School District. Stop by 7100 Maple Terrace beginning at 9 a.m. for a wide range of available items.

Second Hand Purrs Benefit: Eat Sunday at Pizzeria Piccola in the Village to support the Second Hand Purrs Cat Shelter. Raffle prizes include tickets to the Milwaukee County Zoo and First Stage, among others. The event is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Workin’ at the car wash: Support the student activities council of Pius XI High School with a free car wash at the Burger King at 124th Street and Capitol Drive on Saturday. Your donations, of course, are encouraged.

Lebowski Fest: If you want to venture out of town, the homage to the 1998 cult moviereturns to Milwaukee this weekend. On Friday night there will be a movie screening and music from Thao & The Get Down Stay Down in Cathedral Square Park. A bowling party will be held Saturday in West Allis.
