Jefferson Elementary School serves the southeast corner of Wauwatosa in a building considerably newer than the school's founding date of 1921. The old school building burned down while the new one was just beginning construction. Jefferson has the smallest campus of any Tosa elementary school but parents have tried to expand its potential with pocket gardens and an outdoor classroom and students have adorned the 1958 building with colorful artworks.
