Walgreens often has some pretty good deals on simple everyday items if you shop around, though their prices are otherwise above average. I felt sorry for the employees who were sometimes required to do weird things like ask every customer if they want to buy some candy bars.
They began rolling out a track-your-spending-habits discount card this year, called a healthy balance rewards card, which ironically offers you a lot of rewards points for buying potato chips sometimes.
On several occasions the store PA system kept broadcasting a recording calling for "assistance in the shaved meat department" every few minutes, though I've never seen such a department in the pharmacy. I was the only person in the store who seemed to react to this broadcast in the slightest, making it all the more surreal.
