Hoyt Park is a premier destination for Tosans wanting to picnic or play, run or bike, along the Menomonee River ParkwayMore northwest of the Village. Extremely picturesque Hoyt Park is one of the most popular gathering places on the west side of the metro area. Coming soon in 2011 is the rejuvenation of Hoyt Pool, which was once the largest and most heavily attended swimming holes in Milwaukee County. The old pool failed, though, so Wauwatosa citizens raised $8 million to rebuild it when the county couldn't afford it. Opening this spring, Hoyt Pool will once again be Wauwatosa's swimming hole.

Longfellow Middle School

Longfellow Middle School, built during the expansion of Wauwatosa in the 1950s, is right across the street from the TosaMore Civic Center, so many of its students get an extra dose of civics as they migrate to the Wauwatosa Public Library to study or wait for rides. Longfellow has a swimming pool, two gymnasiums, a large and a small auditorium and athletic fields. ACAL – the Activity Center at Longfellow – is a popoluar monthly event during which the school is opened up in the evening for fun and recreation.
