Wauwatosa West Student Elected 'County Executive' at Badger Boys State

Samuel Hanrahan continues Tosa student success at week-long program.

Wauwatosa’s success at Badger Boys State continues, with a student from Wauwatosa West High School being elected one of nine “county executives” of fictional counties. Samuel Hanrahan, of Tosa West, was chosen Tuesday as the “county executive” of “Mitchell” County at the Ripon College-oriented program, which teaches selected youth leaders from around the state about government, elections, and civic affairs. Only youth demonstrating academic success and leadership potential are chosen for the program. Earlier in the week, a youth from Wauwatosa East, Alex Walker (the governor’s son), was elected mayor of one of the Badger Boys State cities. The next round of voting will involve state elections. Governor's son, Alex, a Wauwatosa East high school student, was elected Monday as the mayor of a city at Badger Boys State

It turns out that two Walkers from Wauwatosa were elected to state leadership positions this past week — only one of them is Gov. Scott Walker’s son, Alex. And he was elected mayor of a Badger Boys State city named after a former Wisconsin governor known, in part, for educational reform. Alex Walker, an incoming senior at Wauwatosa East High School, was elected “mayor” of a Badger Boys State city on Monday, according to an announcement from the Badger Boys State PR office. Wauwatosa East also has a second student, Sam Schultz, at Badger Boys State, said Nick Hughes, Wauwatosa East principal. Any word on his disqualification from the Governor's race because he "borrowed" other nominees' nomination papers? My understanding is that it went all the way to the Badger Boys Supreme Court. Kind of embarrassing for him and his family if he is trying shady tactics to become Governor at Badger Boys.   more ›
