Tosa Bank Heist Was an Inside Job
Guaranty Bank teller made fraudulent deposit and withdrawals, then just stopped coming to work.
Bank officials and police believe that a teller made a brazen theft and then invited quick suspicion by simply refusing to show up for work again. At 12:34 p.m. Friday, police went to the Guaranty Bank branch at Sentry, 6700 W. State St., to investigate a report from a bank officer that an employee had stolen $2,500 from the branch office. The employee had not shown up for work the day before, and another employee who stopped at her home was told she wouldn’t be going in. The branch manager became suspicious and checked into her activity Wednesday.
