Village Starts to Sparkle Nov. 30 with Holiday Magic

Tree-lighting ceremony at Root Common Park kicks off weekend celebration of holiday spirit.

  The city will brighten the holiday season with its annual tree-lighting ceremony at the village’s Root Common Park Nov. 30, complete with complimentary horse-drawn carriage rides, cocoa, cookies, cider and coffee. The two-day Holiday Magic Weekend officially begins at 6 p.m. Friday, with Santa Claus arriving via fire engine to set the festivities aglow as the tree is lit. The McKinley Elementary School Choir will perform prior to Santa’s arrival, beginning at 5:45 p.m. Once Santa lights the tree, the Sophia’s Heart Foundation Choir will perform. The Sophia’s Heart children’s choir, featuring the voices of 28 inner-city Milwaukee children, is a new addition to the ceremony this year and is certain to inspire, said Anne Kahl, marketing …

City Tree-Lighting Set for Nov. 30 in the Village

Season kicks off at Root Common Park with the tree, carriage rides, St. Nick and shopping, shopping, shopping.

  The Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony, organized by the Village of Wauwatosa Business Improvement District, is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30. Kick off your holiday season by grabbing a bite to eat at one of the many local eateries in the Village, and then head to Root Common Park where Harwood meets Wauwatosa Avenue for the Tree Lighting Ceremony. Stick around after the ceremony for a lighted horse-drawn wagon ride through the Village from 6:30 to 9 p.m. and enjoy a little one-on-one time with Mr. Claus at one of the shops (TBA) after the ceremony.
