WOW House

With $435,000 Asking Price, Unique Home Has the 'Wright' Look

Designed by architect often compared to Frank Lloyd Wright, this Racine County home in wooded surrounding overlooks a ravine and the Root River.

From elegant and stately mansions to modern, environmentally friendly abodes, southeastern Wisconsin is chock-full of one-of-a-kind homes for sale. Each week, Patch highlights one "Wow House" that caught our attention. This week, it's a home at 1505 Valley View Drive in Mount Pleasant known as "Trilogy" that was designed by architect John Randal McDonald, whose work is often compared to that of Frank Lloyd Wright. Inside Frank Lloyd Wright's Greek Orthodox Church

Fifty years after it opened, the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Wauwatosa still stands out with its unique architecture.

When the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Wauwatosa was constructed in 1961, it broke from traditional Byzantine architecture but put traditional Orthodox symbols at its center, with the foundation built on the shape of the cross and a dome stretching over 100 feet across the ceiling. It was one of Frank Lloyd Wright's last projects, as he submitted the design in 1956 before he died in 1959. In the video above, Reverand James Dokos, Construction Supervisor John Ottenheimer who supervised the construction, and Parish Council Member John Galanis explain what makes the church a unique "jewel of faith."

Greek Fest Continues Through Weekend at State Fair Park

Food, dancing, food, music, food, raffles and, by the way, food, is featured at 46th annual festival.

Flaming cheese. Hundreds of lambs and chickens roasting over live open coals. Dancers and musicians performing in authentic Greek fashion and in colorful, traditional garb. Did we mention flaming cheese and roasting lambs? If that didn't get you, how about the return to Greek Fest, after far too long, of the original souvlaki sandwich on a bun. Ah, now we've got you. Greek Fest opened Friday and continues Saturday and Sunday at State Fair Park. The festival is free and family-friendly Friday night until 11 p.m., Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., then 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday. The 46th annual Greek Fest is sponsored by Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 9400 W. Congress St., Wauwatosa, famous for its Frank Lloyd Wright design. From the …
