A Milwaukee teenager was arrested at the Wauwatosa Kmart, and investigators learned she's already been in the court system more than once.
A 17-year-old Milwaukee girl charged with theft from a Wauwatosa department store now has three such cases pending at the state level, court records show. Ebony Champaigne Dancer was charged Friday in Milwaukee County Circuit Court with retail theft as a Class A misdemeanor, punishable by up to nine months in jail. At 9:29 p.m. Thursday, Dancer was arrested for theft and bail jumping at Kmart, 3201 N. Mayfair Rd., after she tried to leave the store with seven items worth $104 hidden in her purse, which contained a foil-lined booster bag. She had been spotted concealing the merchandise, according to a criminal complaint. Dancer told police she was planning to sell the items for cash. A record check showed she already had two pending retail …

Two Milwaukee men did not escape forever though, and have since been charged in Milwaukee County Court with theft.
Two Milwaukee men were charged with three separate and straightforward retail thefts during March from Target and Walmart on North 124th Street. According to a criminal complaint, Peter M. Brown, 48, and Rufus L Hollingsworth Jr., 46, simply filled carts with items at both stores — at Target on March 9 and 16 and at Walmart on March 16 — and pushed them through the front door “without making any attempt to pay for the items.” Items included a microwave oven, a comforter and toaster, and the total value in all three thefts was estimated to be about $900. All three charges are misdemeanors, with a maximum penalty of nine months in prison and/or a $10,000 fine.

Girls as young as 11 try to outfit themselves under their own clothing but attract plenty of attention in doing so at the Mayfair Mall store.
It takes something to stand out from the parade of retail theft reports that marches through the weekly police blotter. In this case, tender age. At 4 p.m. Friday, three Milwaukee girls, two of them 12 years old and the third just 11, were arrested for theft from Macy’s at Mayfair Mall after they drew suspicion for randomly selecting clothing without checking prices or sizes. They headed toward the fitting rooms, so a female loss prevention officer was sent to quickly check that the rooms were empty of merchandise. All three girls crowded into the same fitting room. The security agent could see beneath the divider that they were pulling off their pants, pulling on unpaid-for pants, then putting their own back on. They were stopped as they …

Wauwatosa police are seeking a man who on successive days, during retail thefts at two different Walgreens stores, flashed a large hunting knife at employees who tried to stop him or his accomplices. According to the police reports: At 4:05 p.m. Friday, during a retail theft of liquor by a woman at the Walgreens at 10800 W. Capitol Dr., her male companion brandished a knife at two employees. A store manager there said that the two were in the liquor section and kept opening the doors on a display, which repeatedly triggered an intercom announcement that “Assistance is needed in the liquor department.” He noticed that neither of the two appeared old enough to drink. The manager saw the young woman take a bottle of vodka and a bottle of …

You can’t help but wonder what this guy borrowed, and why, that this was deemed the best way to pay it back. If convicted, he faces up to nine months in jail and $10,000 in fines. According to the criminal complaint: On Tuesday, the manager of the Walgreen's saw Robinson in the store sticking multiple sticks of deodorant down his pants, so he called the police. At 5:20 p.m. Friday, a Hales Corners man reported that his car had been stolen at the BP gas station at 7532 W. Center St. The owner said he had stopped at the station on his way home from work to buy some cigarettes and had left the car unlocked with the keys in it. While he was in the store, he said, his Bluetooth headset informed him that it had disconnected. He said he thought he had just walked out of range, but when he left the store, he learned that it was his 2003 Nissan Maxima that was out of range and long gone. Police searched the area but saw no sign of it. In other recent incidents from police reports: At 12:13 p.m. Friday, a 53-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for theft and violation of probation at the Pick ‘n Save …

Retail theft, even for some repeat offenders, often draws only a municipal citation or at most a low-level criminal misdemeanor charge. But two men arrested over the weekend for thefts at Mayfair Mall are getting the proverbial book thrown at them – in part for what they are accused of stealing but mainly because of their criminal records and current status with the courts. Justin L. Nash, 19 was charged Tuesday in Milwaukee County Circuit Court with one count of felony retail theft and one count of felony bail jumping. If convicted, he faces up to 4½ years in prison and $20,000 in fines. According to the criminal complaint: At 10:43 p.m. Sunday, with the mall closed except for the AMC Theater, a security officer at Mayfair monitoring …

The twice-a-week Police Reports published in Wauwatosa Patch seldom lack for instances of retail theft at Mayfair Mall. Most rate only a line or two in the blotter. But now and then, some seem to call out for special attention, such as the two that follow. We begin with a woman who, with winter coming on, went to the mall to shop for her two children, their young cousin, and her brother, who, she would later tell police, needed a wardrobe update because he had just gotten out of jail. She didn't intend to pay, according to police reports and a criminal complaint. She did, however, want to make sure the kids' clothes fit. Latasha N. Alphonse, 24, was charged Wednesday in Milwaukee County Circuit Court with one count of felony retail theft. …
