School, that's where. And in one mother's case, she's certainly aware her son doesn't go to school even close to half the time.
Police issued five citations on March 25 for habitual truancy to students and one parent at Wauwatosa West High School. Those at West cited for missed and unexcused absence for all or parts of school days since the current semester began Jan. 25: In other Wauwatosa police incident reports: Last Friday A resident of the 2300 block of North 65th Street reported that some time overnight someone had smashed the driver’s window of her car while it was parked in her driveway. A large chunk of Lannon stone was found on the passenger seat; nothing appeared to be missing from the car and there was no firm evidence that it was entered. Wauwatosa police believed this and the following two incidents the same night were related: March 28 At 6:57 p.m., …

Stolen watch and ring are found at young woman's home after she paid a visit to a neighbor, adding to a string of accusations that she preys on those close to her to feed addiction.
A troubled young woman is the prime suspect in a jewelry theft after the stolen goods were found at her family home, according to police. At 7:19 p.m. March 6, police were called to a home in the 2400 block of Swan Boulevard to take a report on a theft of more than $15,000 worth of jewelry from the resident. Police also interviewed a neighbor who had found a Rolex watch belonging to the victim under the cushion of the couch where his daughter sleeps. He said she was a heroin addict and had stolen from him and other family members and recently had begun stealing from friends, neighbors and associates. The 23-year-old suspect had stopped at the victim’s home earlier in the day, claiming she was locked out of her own home and needed to use a …

Tosa police wanted a more serious charge, but district attorney settles for a Class A misdemeanor.
A Brookfield woman could have been charged with a felony for shoplifting a load of jewelry at Mayfair Mall in Wauwatosa, but instead she faces a serious misdemeanor count of theft, according to police reports and court documents. Jane Elizabeth Montgomery, 28, was charged Thursday in Milwaukee County Circuit Court with "intentionally taking" less than $500 worth of property, punishable by up to nine months in jail. But according to police reports, Montgomery actually attempted to steal about twice that amount, in retail value, and the department requested a felony count that could have been punished with up to three years and six months in prison. At 9:20 p.m., last Monday, Montgomery was arrested on suspicion of theft from Boston Store at…

Claiming she needs money for an abortion, she tries to steal enough to cover the bill and then threatens to shoot arresting officer.
A woman who tried to brazenly and clumsily shoplift almost 50 pieces of clothing from a Tosa department store threatened to shoot a police officer during booking and then announced that she was stealing to pay for an abortion. At 2:52 p.m. Feb. 28, the 43-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested for theft from Target, 3900 N. 124th St., after she was caught trying to leave with 47 articles of clothing worth $661.41. Store security had noticed her rapidly grabbing up men’s clothing without any regard to size or price, filling a cart. She went to the toy aisle, squatted on the floor, and pulled several Target bags of her coat. She stuffed them full of clothes, tossed them back in the cart and headed for the exit, where she was stopped when she …

What seems like a boyish prank looks a bit more disturbing when pre-teen curses ice cream shop manager, resists and obstructs police, and turns out to already have an arrest warrant.
At 10 a.m. last Thursday, a 12-year-old Milwaukee boy was arrested for disorderly conduct after he opened a fire extinguisher in the basement at Ted’s Ice Cream and Restaurant, 6204 W. North Ave. The manager said that two boys had come in and went to use the rest room in the basement. He heard laughter, and the boys came running up the stairs and out the door. The manager smelled what he thought was smoke, and he ran after them. He saw they were heading for a county bus at the corner of 62nd Street and called police. One of the boys, he said, turned around and shouted profanities at him, and said, “What the … you gonna do about it?” Police stopped the bus and questioned three boys. Another 12-year-old, they said, was respectful and …

On a school-day morning, boys, 14 and 15, are out stealing liquor, and when they're chased, they try to escape on bikes stolen at East High. The older boy already has three armed robberies on his record.
At 10:29 a.m. Jan. 30, two Milwaukee boys, one 14 and one 15, were arrested for retail theft and theft of property after they fled from the Pick ‘n Save at 6950 W. State St. with six bottles of liquor, three apiece. The two boys were soon spotted heading north on bicycles in the 1800 block of North 74th Street. An officer stopped them, found the liquor still on them and arrested them. The boys both told the same story of having run to the home of the 15-year-old’s grandmother on 74thStreet to retrieve their bikes. But in fact, police soon learned that the bikes had been stolen from a rack at Wauwatosa East High School. A records check showed that the 14-year-old had only two loitering tickets, but the 15-year-old had been arrested three …

Mall security and Wauwatosa police round up four suspects over three days who were seen in the act of committing thefts or trespassing.
You never know about the ones who get away without anyone's knowledge, but in all of four incidents at Mayfair Mall covered by recent police reports, suspects who were seen by security were also caught and arrested. According to police reports: At 3:27 p.m. Sunday, a 33-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested for theft from Solstice Sunglass Boutique at Mayfair after she was seen on video hiding a $295 pair of sunglasses in her infant’s stroller. She also had a toddler with her, who was seen to grab a pair of sunglasses and run out of the store. His mother chased him down and returned the glasses, but she did not return or pay for the ones she had hidden. She was located in the food court and taken, with her children, to the mall booking …

At one home, a woman displays a strange interest in others' office supplies, and at another, a man causes an even stranger commotion in the wee hours outside.
Two incidents the same morning at two of Wauwatosa's Lutheran retirement and assisted living centers left security guards and police scratching their heads to understand odd and unsettling human behavior. At 6:56 a.m., a 45-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested on suspicion of theft from Luther Manor, 4545 N. 92nd St., for pilfering freely from office desks. A security guard told police that the woman had come to the front desk at about 6:45 and asked to use the restroom. He let her do so, but when about six minutes had passed without her returning, he went to look for her. He found the woman wandering the halls and now carrying a well-stuffed bag with a fair-sized Luther Manor clock sticking out of it. Besides the clock, she had bagged up…

Police find an illustrated man and a freshly tagged wall, and despite his efforts to evade responsibility, he can't contain his pride in his work nor conceal so many matching colors.
Art may be in the eye of the beholder, but when the beholder is a police officer, it also depends on what you choose as your canvas. At 4:40 a.m. Wednesday, a 20-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for graffiti vandalism and obstructing an officer after a caller reported suspicious activity in the 10900 block of West Potter Road. The caller had seen a car pull over and said three people got out and entered a private property. Police initially found no one in the area, but one officer waited and 20 minutes later spotted a man walking toward the car. He told the officer he was just walking from a bus and knew nothing about the car. But he was covered in several colors of fresh paint and was soon found to have the keys to the car in his …

UWM ask suburban police for an assist in arresting a 33-year-old Brookfield man as the suspect in the thefts of loads of toilet and urinal valves throughout the Milwaukee area.
Police believe they have at last solved the mystery of the missing toilet valves. UWM and Brookfield police teamed up Wednesday to arrest a 33-year-old Brookfield man on suspicion of stealing toilet valves from, at the least, the UWM campus and two locations in Brookfield. But flush valves for toilets and urinals have for months been going missing from all over the metro area. Fast food restaurants, grocery stores and college campus bathrooms have been favorite targets. The automatic flushing units being stolen cost from $300 to $600 to replace, and the total value of thefts are estimated at about $30,000. According to a Brookfield police report: At 1:27 p.m. Wednesday, UWM called Brookfield police to ask that an officer be sent to meet …
