Located in the Washington Highlands neighborhood, this house combines Old World charm with all the modern conveniences.
From elegant and stately mansions to modern, environmentally friendly abodes, southeastern Wisconsin is chock-full of one-of-a-kind homes for sale. Each week, Patch highlights one "Wow House" that caught our attention. This week, it's a home at 6423 Washington Blvd. in Wauwatosa that's located in the distinctive Washington Highlands neighborhood. The three-story home features an inviting center entryway to an open foyer with a winding wrought0iron staircase. There's an oversized living room with a natural fireplace and a formal dining room with a leaded glass china cabinet. This 11-room home has 3.5 bathrooms and five bedrooms, including a master bedroom with a dressing area and fireplace. The home also features 1,000 square feet of a …

Three bedrooms, two baths, about 1,750 square feet, in a style you like in a neighborhood you'll love, all for around $250,000 – that's what's in the middle of the Tosa home market.

When the city or the School District talks about the local property tax levy, they usually provide an example, known as the 'median-priced home,' and tell you what the taxes on such a home would be. 'Median,' for non-statisticians, is different than 'average.' The median is the point where half the units of any given sample – in this case all home values in a community – are above, and half below. In real estate, median is used instead of average to avoid having the figure be skewed by a small number of very high-priced homes at the top or of very low-priced homes at the bottom. Lately, the example being used in Wauwatosa is, "the levy on a $250,000 home would be...." (If you're interested, it would be just shy of $5,500.) Such a nice …

The top-priced open listed home is a hidden treasure with a pool and its own wilderness, at just under $750,000.
Last week in House Hunt-Wauwatosa, Patch searched out all the multiple listings that could put you in a home here for less than $100,000. There were, at the time, nine single-family homes and condos listed in the AOL Real Estate guide at the lowest end of the price scale. We promised to next look at the highest-priced multiple-listing homes available in Wauwatosa (exclusive of any private listings, of course). The plan was to set a similar benchmark, such as "Wauwatosa homes for sale for over $500,000." But there was only one, at 2350 Met to We Lane, although it's up there, at $749,000, with its backyard swimming pool and behind that, the wilds of the Menomonee River. We reset at "over $400,000," and got only one more, at 8217 Brookside …
