On the article Kwik Trip Plans Remain Idle After Changes to Wetland Ordinance Denied, Again

People like Beck are blinded by greed. There is a phenomenom that addresses this situation, the numbers may vary but it goes something like this: A gas station will do a certain amount of business and by adding a second gas station, on the same intersection, you would think that its business could be cut in half. But now more people think about that intersection when they think about gas, so the end result is that both stations sell more than the original station sold on its own. Currently that exit is a drive-by, the people that get off at that exit need to get off at that exit and things like Kwik-Trip could change that. This also does not send a good message to the people at Camping World, they may be rethinking the Saukville plan. Business wants to invest in business friendly areas and Saukville is hardly friendly.

Frances,
The change to the "food stamp" program is not taking anyone "off" and it does not apply to the "working" poor, so I guess the answer is a big NO. -

ReplyThe only policy item that should be in the budget is that policy items are not allowed in the budget!
The government has enough trouble putting together a sound budget, they don't need the distractions of mucking it up with policy issues. If policy issues cannot stand on their own or become part of an existing policy, then they probably don't belong in the legislative process.
As far as the residency rules go, this issue proves why Barrett is a cruddy mayor. This guy spends his time picking out a new throw rug for a house that is falling down. And talk about hypocrisy, if Wauwatosa had a residency requirement who would quit their job, him or his wife? Shouldn't city employees send their kids to MPS also? It's DSHA for the Barrett girls. -

Just think of the success that Part D would have if the government fined everyone who doesn't want it.

On the Blog Post Eliminate Vouchers, Says Former Private School Teacher

Idiot alert..
Scott says, "If Robin is playing that constitution card then he must oppose vouchers, because the Wisconsin Constitution calls for a free PUBLIC education for all children"
So would this mean that a parrent sending a child to a private school would be violating the child's constitutional rights? To expand on the concept, if our state costitution states that marriage is between one man and one woman, then must I get married? Voucher schools are a CHOICE, the free PUBLIC education for all children is still there. No child is being denied the chance to go to the awesome public schools.Once again, Scott Schroder FAILS!

ReplyRegardless of your view on the ACA, it is time to think about what it really does. Many of the comments that I read or hear lead me to believe that people think that somehow the government is going to provide insurance, I have yet to find that to be true. Insurance is going to be paid for and the middle class is going to pay the most.
An example from an earlier post was about the fast food employers not thinking that they will be affected and that is probably true, but what is the reality?
"fast food workers under 26 years old -- which covers 40 percent of the industry's employees -- may just choose to stay on their parents' plan since Obamacare raises the age of eligibility to 26"
What does this mean? While an 18 to 26 year may be able to stay on a parents insurance someone is going to have to pay for it. This rule in the ACA allows employers to charge the parent for the additional premiums and if the parent purchases insurance through the open/exchange market the parent will still be paying the premium. In the end the parent could have just bought a health policy for their adult child so the only real difference is that if the adult child does not obtain insurance they will have to pay a fine.
Most people don't really understand health insurance and most insurance people don't fully understand the ACA.

What village? This is on the Port Washington-Saukville Patch, so I'd guess Village of Saukville.
