GOOOOOOOAL! Police Recover Stolen Soccer Gear

It is a penalty kick in the pants for kid who stole a soccer bag and held on to it, for some reason.

You're a guy, it doesn't fit, and you probably don't even play. So why steal – and keep – some girl's soccer gear?

Around 4 a.m. last Friday, police were called to the 2400 block of 62nd Street on a report of a suspicious character. Officers located a subject and found he had some odd equipment for the hour and his gender.

The young man whom officers detained had a bag containing soccer shoes, shin guards, socks and the like, none of which should have been of much interest to him – it was all girls' equipage.

There was a label on the bag, with the name and address of a Wauwatosa girl, and when police went to her home in the 2400 block of 65th Street, they found her car with its doors standing open.

When police were able to speak to the victim, they learned that she had lost $225 worth of soccer gear in a theft by auto entry.

The young man arrested in the theft was also a suspect in a garage burglary and was wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant, unspecified by police.

The victim's property was returned, and she may have learned a lesson in defense – don't turn your back on your bindle.
